Early Life

ArcoIris Sandoval, born in 1987, grew up in Tucson, Arizona, immersed in the sounds of jazz. Her father, a tenor saxophonist and dedicated jazz musician, introduced her to music from an early age, even sitting with her strapped to his chest at the piano when she was just six weeks old. This early connection to music blossomed into a remarkable talent, and by the age of 12, Sandoval was performing professionally around Tucson. Her compositional skills also shone early; in 2000, she performed an original work with the Tucson Symphony Orchestra as part of its Young Composers Series. Sandoval pursued formal music education, earning a BA in piano from the University of Arizona in 2010 and an MA in Jazz Piano from the Manhattan School of Music in 2012, setting the stage for her career as a jazz pianist and composer.
