Alto Sax
Nathan King is a saxophonist and music educator based in Southern California. He has performed with a variety of groups across genres, including Bill Cunliffe's Big Band and the eclectic ensemble The Mercy Stone. Additionally, he leads his own jazz quartet. As an educator, King teaches saxophone, flute, clarinet, and jazz improvisation. He is a frequent clinician for schools and currently teaches in The Garn Family Jazz Studies Program at the Orange County School of the Arts.
Nathan King won the Best Saxophonist award at the 2016 Reno Jazz Festival. Nathan King climbed Half Dome in Yosemite National Park when he was in 5th grade. Nathan King was a member of the 2015 Disneyland All-American College Band.
Nathan King was born and raised in Southern California. As a child he played the drums, but switched to the saxophone in 7th grade. He studied Saxophone Performance, with an emphasis in Jazz and Commercial Music at Cal State Fullerton and then pursued a Masters degree in music at Cal State Long Beach, graduating in 2017. He studied with well-respected educators included Gary Foster, Jeff Ellwood, Katisse Buckingham, and Dan St. Marseille.
