Alex Flavell is a jazz pianist, composer, arranger, and educator based in Southern California. He has performed with various artists including Alexis Cole, Marc Christian, Gilbert Castellanos and received a Grammy Nomination for his work on Aftro-Peruvian Jazz Orchestra's album "Tradiciones." He also serves as an adjunct professor at Fullerton College.
Alex Flavell received a Grammy nomination for his work on the 2020 album "Tradiciones" with the Afro-Peruvian Jazz Orchestra. Alex Flavell has won several awards from Chapman University’s “Composers Today” Branch contest Alex Flavell is credited as an arranger on Bryan Lanning’s first full-release album, "Us".
Alex Flavell grew up in Anaheim, California. As a child he fooled around on the family piano until his parents finally decided to get him lessons. While in high school school he performed with various school bands and was a finalist for Orange County Register ’s Varsity Artist of the Year in Instrumental Music. Following high school Flavell studied Jazz Piano at Cal State Long Beach, earning his degree in 2020. He continued his education at Cal State Fullerton where he earned his Masters Degree in 2022.
