Early Life

Jeff Jarvis, born in 1952, grew up in a musical household; both his parents were music educators. His father, a trumpeter and band director, and his mother, a vocal teacher, instilled in him a love for music from an early age. Jarvis started playing the trumpet as a child and played in school bands throughout elementary and middle school. During high school he auditioned for and won a full scholarship to the Valley Forge Military Academy near Philadelphia. As part of the Valley Forge Military Academy Band he performed frequently for events, visiting dignitaries, and even President Nixon. Following graduation, Jarvis played locally in Philadelphia bands as well as doing session work.
