Tenor Sax
Ken Weiner is a tenor saxophonist and band leader working in the Los Angeles area. After being active in several jazz ensembles during his college years and early twenties, Weiner focused on his career in technology and engineering. He currently is the CTO of the company GumGum and in his spare time he plays in various quartets and trios around Los Angeles.
Ken Weiner leads the LA AdTech Meetup group. During his twenties Ken Weiner shared a house with jazz musicians Mark and Alan Ferber. Ken Weiner's hobbies include mountain biking and California Native Plants.
Born in Baltimore, Maryland in 1973, Ken Weiner grew up in Agoura Hills, California, a suburb of Los Angeles. While in elementary school he heard an instructor play The Pink Panther Theme on the saxophone and was immediately drawn to the instrument. He began studying the saxophone in 6th grade and continued to play throughout high school, playing in the Agoura Hills High School Jazz band and in various honor bands. Following graduation he headed to UCLA where he studied Mechanical Engineering. He also was a member of the UCLA Jazz Band where he shared the stage with upcoming jazz musicians including John Daversa, Gretchen Parlato, Mark Feber and Alan Ferber. After graduating with a B.S. in Engineering in 1993, Weiner began working as an engineer in Los Angeles.
